Our Sustainability Journey

Saraf Lumbers Pvt Ltd is the group entity and proposed to operate FSC group certification for its farmer members who are growing timber trees in their farmlands. Majority of the farm lands enrolled are growing Mango (Mangifera indica) and Babul (Acacia nilotica, Acacia Katechu) as the main species in agroforestry model. Mango orchards are intended for fruit cultivations with the strands ranging from 1-65 years, Babul strands are 1-8 years old. Selective harvest of timber is followed as part of management activities for mango includes unsustained fruit bearing capacity, thinning, pruning etc. Even aged felling is followed for Babul on sustained yield basis. Near about 2500 FMUs are enrolled in Malda, Murshidabad districts of West Bengal and 220 FMUs in Ajmer, Bhilwara, Bikaner, Bundi, Jaipur, Sawai Madhopur, Tonk districts of Rajasthan. All the FMUs are small holders and are complying to SLIMF requirements.
